The foundation on which the creed of Christianity is standing today is the claim that Jesus is the son of God (as well as God claimed by the majority of Christendom) which in turn gave birth to an “impossible” to grasp proposition called Trinity. At one point even the Bible was fabricated by the christian leaders to add the Trinity into the scripture (that's supposedly the Words of God) to .
"For there are three that bear record in heaven, the FATHER, the WORD, and the HOLY GHOST: and these three are one." 1st Epistle of John 5:7 - AV
However, that fabrication was later removed or at least recognized in most of the Bible versions. This verse was the closest approximation to what the Christians call their Holy Trinity in the Bible as key-stone of the Christian faith yet has been scrapped from the Revised Standard Version (RSV) of the Holy Book without even a semblance of explanation.
Even though it was removed from most of the Bible versions, it’s not removed from the heart and mind of most Christians in the world. Nevertheless, with the absolute absurdity claimed of Trinity by the Christian preachers, it would continue to live in the Christian faith to support the divinity claim of Jesus (peace be upon him) until the truth is accepted with open mind. Because, as you will see in the subsequent sections, the Christian leaders have no turn around from it without scraping the only selling point i.e. Salvation, that is already sold to billions of people and they can’t afford to do a recall without dismantling the very "faith" itself that they have built over the millennium.
To understand why the divinity of Jesus was introduced, we need to understand the bedrock of Christianity i.e. the original sin. As a side note, a small fraction of Christians denominations rejected the “original sin” but they still believe that Jesus is the (only begotten) son of God. The way the story of Adam (peace be upon him) was written in the Bible triggered the concept of original sin in Christian creed subsequently attributed to the entire mankind and the generations to come. Stricken with the "original sin", mankind thus needs a savior to wash that sin. So they brought God down to earth to do that washing - once you start off to the journey of irrationality there’s no stopping until it’s completely drowned in illogicity. This is a classic domino built to uphold the original absurdity through a chain of absurdities. The progression of that absurdity can be depicted like below:
The original sin for mankind is created from the story of Adam & Eve’s faltering to the Devil’s deception.
Somehow the original sin is passed to the children of Adam without them being responsible at all for their parents so-called “sin”.
Then to wipe off the original sin, which is supposed to have nothing to do with the children of Adam & Eve, a new concept is introduced that someone came for the salvation of their “sin” that they never committed. Nobody could satisfactorily answer the question- why the “savior” comes after thousands of years of their supposedly committing the "original sin" ago and what happened to mankind prior to the saviors' oncoming.
That savior has to be powerful enough to wipe-off the original sin thus attributed with the divinity.
The final nail in the “rational” coffin was the Trinity, added to the Christian creed in a failed attempt to maintain monotheistic foundation of the religion because it’s clearly mentioned in the Bible to believe in One God (Deuteronomy 6:4). Nonetheless, the Trinity is a mental bending over backward in the attempt to save the Christian monotheism that's beyond the capacity of normal human beings. Some Trinitarians use the analogy of three states of water: liquid (water), gaseous (vapor) and solid (ice). None seems to inform them that once water turns into ice, the water no longer exists but the Trinitarians insist that God remains in heaven and Jesus came down to the earth (and remains as God) yet they are One. So when man God died, unlike the water-vapor-ice analogy, the “father” God wasn’t impacted.
You can see with your own eyes the absurdity but you can't have an open and candid dialogue with the Christian preachers if they don't come with open heart and with the sense of reasoning.
Apart from using rationality and reasoning, even the Bible has clear verses that should’ve been prioritized over obscured verses. Interestingly Allah warned in the Quran to use only the clear ayats to build the creeds of the Muslims. Now, let’s see what the holy scripture of the Christians - the Bible says clearly in plain words about Jesus and “God” (see the Resources & Reference section):
Most of the prophets in the Bible are called the “son of God”. This is the Greek expression attributed to all the prophets. So Jesus isn’t any different than any other prophets. Moreover, even David was called the “begotten” son in the Bible . So according to the Bible, the Christian scripture, Jesus is no different than any other prophet whatsoever in that context. Though we, Muslims don't buy that "begotten" word.
Jesus never claimed divinity but just like any other prophets of their time, mentioned that salvation is through him. Which is the case of every prophet of their time: Noah, Abraham, Moses, Jesus (peace be upon them all).
Jesus never said to worship him but called his decibels to the contrary - worship one God.
Jesus said that he can’t do anything without the help of the father (God).
Jesus showed everything that a human functions: born through a normal delivery, circumcision, learned knowledge, made mistakes, baptized as jew, ate food, and the list goes on. The divinity is never declared in clear terms by himself.
Moreover, ironically, there are other figures in the Bible who are attributed with more divinity than Jesus himself. It was “supposedly” shown by Melchizedek the Priest who had no beginning and no end. Jesus had a beginning (born), lived through a certain age, then he died (though the claim was that he was resurrected. As a side note, Muslims believe based on the Quranic ayat that Isa/Jesus (pbuh) didn’t die on the cross but taken up by Allah)
Finally, according to the Bible, he died like a mortal human which contradicts any divinity they may claim through interjecting their interpretation into the Bible.
All the verses from the Bible are given in the Reference section at the bottom of this article. Read for yourself.
A leftover reasoning: though this is a very distant connection but another reason could be: the remnants of the Greek’s belief system left with the Western hemisphere where it was difficult from the new Christians to grasp an unseen omnipotent God. In Greek mythology, Zeus, the king of all gods, controlled the earth through his Sons and Daughters to guide mankind and solve their problem. The possibility is there that they couldn’t get over that belief even after accepting the monotheistic Christianity. This is a distant possibility but may not be the strongest argument though.
Now let’s understand why Christians are so hung up on the Trinity or the concept of Triune God. Christians themselves aren’t convinced by the Trinity let alone convincing others to that idea. No Christians would ever be able to explain to you what they are saying by the Triune God. The Water-Vapor-Ice was an attempt but it was so weak that it even doesn’t need a physicist but a regular mind can debunk it very quickly. That mental gymnastics lives on to combine two incoherent innovations mentioned earlier: the original sin and God died to wipe off that original sin. However, the Bible is very clear that God is one so there’s no way for them to have Jesus to declare a God without becoming a polytheistic religion. That will be like denying the verses of their own Bible. This irrationality caused Christianity to create a separate secular lifestyle outside of their religion where they can live a rational life everyday and go to church on Sunday, consciously shutting off their reasoning. Even though it doesn’t make sense to the priests or Christian preachers, they care less because they are able to sell this to millions if not billions!
Muslims on the other hand built civilization in the medieval period and reached to the top of the scientific knowledge of their time when Christendom was wandering in the darkness. What sparked the building of the Islamic civilization? The Quran! The Quran forced the Muslims to “think” and use their “reasoning”. There are dozens of ayats in the Quran that intrigued mankind to use reasoning and subsequently highly praises those who use their intellects. That’s why the modern scientific method is invented by a muslim: Hassan Ibn Al-Haiytham (or Alhazen as known in Europe). On the contrary Christendom had a renaissance only after they pushed the Bible out of their intellectual realm. Because if you believe in the Bible you can’t believe in science. If you doubt this claim, read the scientific errors in the Bible. E.g. If you believe the Bible is the Word of God, then you have to believe that the sky has pillars. That’s not ending there - even the earth has pillars! See: Job, Ch. 26, Verse 11 and Samuel, Ch-2 Verses-8. Want to know what the Quran says about that? Surah Luqman, Ch. 31, Aayah 10, clearly stated that “The Heavens are without any pillars - Don’t you see?” The Quran has no contradiction with the scientific facts and most of the theories as well.
To the Muslims, I want to end this with a caution: Don’t think that people who believe in the Trinity or Jesus as son of God will start believing just after reading this very clear explanation - they would’ve accepted the truth a long back if that was the case. This article is written to show you how pure and superior is the Quran in comparison to the Bible or the creed of the largest religion on this earth. Also, when you meet with Christians, you should feel blessed and humble that we have with us the Quran. However, if you meet a Christian who is rational and intellectual, bring this comparison to them and offer them the truth and after that it'd be their choice to accept the truth and live a life with reasoning or denies the truth. Our only job is to convey the message.
